The 49th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (JSAPS) and the 157th Scientific Meeting in Okinawa

President's Greetings

It is my great honor and privilege to host the 49th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (JSAPS) and the 157th Scientific Meeting, to be held on November 5–6, 2026, at the Ryukyu Hotel & Resort Nashiro Beach, Okinawa, Japan. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the board members, councilors, and all members of the society for their kind support and trust in appointing me as Congress President of this memorable meeting.

The theme of this meeting is "Mastering 'Champuru': Embracing Diversity and Creating Innovation."

The word "Champuru" refers to Okinawa’s signature home-style dish, most famously "Goya Champuru." It describes a dish where Okinawan tofu (shimadofu) is stir-fried and skillfully blended with various ingredients—a culinary tradition that embodies the spirit of "mixing and harmonizing" various elements. Since the Great Trading Era of the Ryukyu Kingdom in the 15th century, the people of Okinawa have interacted globally, absorbing and intermingling cultures to create a unique "Champuru Culture."

I believe that we, as aesthetic surgeons, practice the essence of this "harmonious blending" every day. We combine our experiences, observations, knowledge, and techniques—from pre-operative planning to intra-operative adaptations—to create something new and optimal for our patients. In the heart of Okinawa, I sincerely hope this meeting will be a platform for all participants to gain new insights, embrace technical diversity, and achieve even greater heights through this creative fusion.

To avoid the typhoon season, this year’s meeting is held in November. With the refreshing climate and the opening of a much-anticipated new theme park in the northern part of the island, I hope you will fully enjoy Okinawa's nature, culture, cuisine, and entertainment.

I look forward to welcoming you all to Okinawa.
